Life Recap

I don’t know where the days, weeks, or months are going. I meant to do Friday letters yesterday but Friday escaped me. As did the rest of the week. And to be honest, I am being so lazy – it is 6 pm and I am laying in bed watching TV in my PJs. Happy Saturday!

I don’t really feel like elaborating on my life so I am going to do a quick recap in bullet form

-I do not know where the year is going. It is almost September.
-September = FOOTBALL and Kyle and I cannot wait. Kyle has already asked for spinach dip for the game this weekend.
-Kyle and I went to my company’s company picnic today. It was hot, but it was good to see everyone outside of work.
-Kyle dragged me to see The Dark Knight last weekend, the things I do for love.
-Tomorrow he is dragging me to the outlets up in Dawsonville. Of course. I have to drive. Again. The things I do for love.
-BUT.... I am dragging Kyle to spin class tomorrow! The things HE does for love!
-I have house fever. I have probably “favorited” 3 pages worth of houses on Coldwell Banker’s site and we still have like 3 months before we can actually start looking. And of course it is like the end of the world when one of MY houses gets marked as “sale pending”.
-All we know is that we do not want to be “house poor” and we don’t want to do the whole “grow into your mortgage”. Our real estate agent will probably hate me.
-World. I got it. Evidently there are only 52 weeks in a year, so my goal of reading 100 books in a year is a little lofty and unattainable. I am going to have to rework that goal. Especially since I will have to accomplish it next year.
-Gross Alert: I have a boil on my face. It is so gross and I have been stalking home remedies and trying basically everything I read and it is slowly going away.
-Kyle has signed up for like 99 Fantasy Football leagues and his 1st draft is tomorrow. I have officially lost my husband until the football season is over.

I really think that is about it. We have not been doing too much with our lives. We are both REALLY excited about Football Season and just hanging out.  I am counting down the days till I head to the beach. But until then, it is just one day after another. :)

too early to think up a title.

Look at this early morning post from me! :)  I am at home this morning because our house is old and falling apart and the dishwasher broke like 2 weeks ago. And after having to hand wash dishes for a few weeks I  FINALLY followed up with our property management company to be like "um. hi. hello. what is going on with our dishwasher?!" ... and it appears the contractor didn't update them about a broken part and having to reschedule AND the contractor forgot to reschedule.  So... I am sitting here waiting for the dishwasher man to come to our house and make Kyle's week by fixing the dishwasher. we would have never made it in the non-electricity / no dishwasher era -- we.are.lazy.

But. With all that said. This morning has been so utterly relaxing. I am sitting on the couch - watching GMA, drinking my coffee, eating my yogurt, and monitoring my work email for important things. I got ready on my own time and it wasn't a mad sweaty dash to get up, ready, and out of the house {like normal} ... long story short - I could SO do this "stay at home" / "work from home" thing. ...like once a week. Let me be honest: I would DIE without social interaction.

I did love that both Mulls and Kens got in their crate like they normally do and when I just walked right past Kenne's crate and she realized I wasn't locking her up for the day she got SO excited and bounded out of the crate, tail wagging, and hopped on me to say that she was happy.  Little does she know that she will be locked up whenever this contractor gets here and then leaves.  Momma's gotta go to work to pay for your food and daycare and toys and vet visits and treats.  {but seriously, when will this dishwasher man be here?!}

On another topic.  This half marathon training is hard. Like harder than it was in the past.  Getting back into it is not the hard part.  I have been diligent about hitting the gym & working out & scheduling work outs - but I am having a hard time hitting the miles.  Maybe it is because I HATE HATE HATE treadmill running, but it is just too hot to run outside.  On top of it - my right foot {the arch} has been hurting.  Per the usual, I self diagnosed myself with tight muscles so I am making a much better effort to stretch and stretch a lot. And since my foot was REALLY hurting yesterday I skipped Blast900 since I didn't think hills, sprints, and running would be a good idea. But it is feeling better today - so I think I will try a little short run with lots and lots of stretching. :)

And. Since I am STILL waiting. I am going to Link Up with another fun link up I have seen bloggers doing called "It's Okay Thursday" ... probably won't be a weekly thing, but why not participate? (Objective: a list of things that in my mind are a-okay)
IT IS OKAY...
...to plan Kyle and my exotic 1 year anniversary trip that is WAY far away and I know won't actually happen...
...that I think it is super weird that people google search "barbie and kyle shanahan" {i know this thanks to the stats on how people find my blog}. Like why are you google searching us. We're LAME...
...to love on my dogs as much as I do...
...that I stay up WAY too late reading WAY too often. Sometimes a good book just sucks me in...
...that I really don't understand the point of this link up...
...that I am really impatient waiting for this contractor to come. I really need to get to work...
...that I ordered my 2013-2014 Erin Condren planner already. I know it was an impulse buy, but I just wanted to have it 100% ready for January 1...
...that I have not yet started my Christmas shopping even though I am normally 50% done by now...

...

That was random and weird. Not sure how I feel about that link up. But this whole post is random and weird.
1 more day till Friday ... I think we can all make it, right?! Even though Kyle and I have nothing on the calendar for this weekend I like to know that it is coming up and so super close.

.Ok. I think I am done.

Random Blabbery

I feel like it has been awhile since I blabbed and blabbed and I feel like this is a good way to give people a quick run down on our lives.  And with that... here I go.

  • I am now a Shanahan.  No longer a Vines.  2 months after the wedding, I dragged myself to the Social Security office and legally changed my name.  Honestly, it was painless.  I was in and out.  But it was the end or an era and kind of sad.  There is no longer any Vines in my name.  I am officially Barbara Ann Shanahan.
  • We have not merged bank accounts yet though.  I am trying to get everything done before we do that.  And I thought of being put on an allowance does not make me a happy happy lady.  I save more than I spend already so why do I need an allowance?!
  • I did try to go to the DMV (or whatever they call it here in Georgia) and they were closed thanks to the Memorial  Day holiday.  Blah. I guess I will try and go on a lunch break - or just suck it up and go early early Saturday morning.
  • My birthday is this week. Wahoo for 28.
  • I am so excited to be getting my Tory Burch earrings from Kyle.  Weeee cannot wait to wear them all the time.
  • Am I allowed to gush over something else that I really really want for my birthday!?!?  Of course I can, this is my little world.  Erin Condren - I love her and her life planner - but now I REALLY want her recipe cards and dividers for my recipe box.  They're just too cute and since I am moving all my recipes from my Dad's binder to this box and then adding all the good Pinterest recipes, I feel like this is much needed.  And the dividers are way more fun than the boring Crate and Barrel ones that came with the box.
  • Speaking of Erin Condren :: her life planner is holding me together in 2012.  I cannot wait to see the new ones for 2013 when they're introduced in June.  And then I cannot wait to order one in December.
  • Our Memorial Day long weekend was slow and relaxing.  Lunch with one of Kyle's old work friends on Saturday. Nothing but errands and lounging on Sunday. And (like the good wife that I am) I took Kyle to see the Avengers on Monday.  And now it is Wednesday and I am back at this work thing.
  • We did have my brother over for Dinner on Monday and I am going to brag a little - I was impressed with my BBQ Chicken making skills and my ability to make corn on the cobb.  But I was most exicted about using wedding presents!!
  • We now need a kitchen table!
  • But I am not going to lie, I would have killed to be at the beach or a lake.  Kyle and I need to strike rich so we can get a lake house.  And then retire.  But more realistically, get lake house, work work work, and then retire on a lake.  Le Sigh.  That.Is.The.Life.  {Yes I realize we're in our 20s and thinking about retirement already}
  • Work. Is going well.  Busy, per the usual.  But good.  And I love 4 days work weeks!!!
  • Mullligan and Kennesaw are good.  Mulligan is FINALLY over his killer stomach bug, but he did something to his back paw. He isn't limping but he is for sure licking it which normally means there is an issue.  He may have been free but maintaining his health has been expensive. They did have a little "run in" with the Internet and now it is all jacked up and Kyle cannot play his video games.  But..... hopefully with Comcast coming out on Saturday they can fix that.
  • Speaking of Comcast - per the usual they have been awful to deal with.  Horrible customer service and they are talking to Kyle like he is a moron and now they have this rule that if a tech comes out and does not fix the problem we get charged $50.  Yeah.  Great Customer Service.  And a $50 fee for a tech to come out. ....we just may be going elsewhere.  Anyone in Atlanta have Internet suggestions?!
  • I have been thinking about running another race with the Leukemia and Lymphoma society.  I just don't want to fund raise and beg people for money again.  But the cause is such a good one.
  • Oh. And no, there will not be a Shanahan baby this year.  For some reason everyone keeps telling Kyle and me that "we're next".  Kyle also got asked if he would be celebrating Mother's Day next year.  Yes, yes he will be and we have been celebrating Mother's Day for 3 years thanks to our dogs.  There will be a baby at some point.  Give us some time to figure our lives out.
  • I am kinda grateful May is over.  May was a busy month in the life of me.  Lots of projects for work - trip home to VA - lots of errands and getting things together - and a work trip.
Good Times!  I hope everyone is having a good week and loving that it is short just like I am.  :o)

Total Random Thoughts.

-I love how my Kennesaw pup's tail is always wagging. She is sooo happy all the time. I am glad we were able to keep her out of a shelter and give her a good home!
-my Mundy ladies gave me the funniest wedding card with my wedding gift. 10 awesome wine glasses and a card telling me to drink my stress away. Wahoo!
-speaking of the Mundy ladies. I cannot wait for Friday morning massages with heather before the wedding.
-and on the topic of massages.  Heather and I got a wickedly good deal at the Loew's hotel in Midtown for the 22nd.  $89 for the night - originally $222.  It is nice to have friends in high places. ;)
-I gave Kyle his wedding socks the other day and I was surprised that he liked them! His socks are gonna match my dad's. 2 favorite boys get to have matchy matchy socks!
-I am in the process of reading my second pre-wedding required reading book and I highly recommend it.  However, since I have been so busy with my work trip I doubt it will be finished in 9 days ... but I will finish it even after the wedding.
-wahoo. I am no longer breaking out. Thank you aveeno and biore!
-did I tell you that I got Mully and Kennesaw duffel bags with their names embroidered on them for their 10 day vacation at doggie daycare? Yes. There is a good chance I have mental issues. Luckily Kyle loves me the way I am!
-by the way. We are taking donations to pay for that doggie daycare stay. Yikes.
-we (and by we I mean I) have started packing for st Lucia! But it is currently a hot mess of clothes and bathing suits on the floor.
-which i think that mess on the floor irked Kyle the other night - he was trying to vacuum and clean the house.  Whoops?
-can I admit that I am gonna miss my pups like crazy when I am on my honeymoon?
-my bachelorette party is this weekend. I am so crazy excited!
-we are officially at the 9 days till mark.  Seriously?  At one point I thought this day was SO far away and now it is steamrolling at me faster than I can handle.
-and the weather predictions thus far - RAWR! 60% chance of rain pretty much all day. High of 73* low of 54*.  But... everyone keeps telling me that it is too far out to predict weather.  But, mark my word -  I will be stalking weather.com for the next 7 days.
-And it appears that a lot of our wedding guests wait till the last minute to do things.... wedding gifts are ROLLING off the registry.
-Eekk. I need to call and schedule a time to pick up my wedding dress. must.do.that.right.now.
-And I need to call our DJ back. .must.do.that.tonight.
-Evidently, I have been slacking at my knot.com to-do list ... glad I just looked at it.
-9 days ya'll.  I cannot wait to see everyone and hug so many people.
-I think we should take bets on who is gonna cry more.  Me or my dad? ;)
-Speaking of..... I need to order my tear catching hankercheif.
-I thought I was soooo much more organized than I evidently actually am.
