my foto friday ties into my November wrap up perfectly. ...i went to google. clicked on images. typed in lazy. and came up with this:
how stinking cute are those critters. i am positive i was not that cute while lounging around the apartment being lazy.
november wrap up. you know when you have those days that you just do not want to do anything... well days turned into weeks and weeks turned into a month and i found myself doing practically nothing this past month. i ran 5.40 miles total and went to 1 Blast class. I think I just spent November being a person again. I had dinners and happy hours with good friends, I saw my brother and sister in law for the first time in months, I had my engagement party, I pretty much asked my whole bridal party to share my BIG day with me, and spent quality time with Kyle. Things that I had not been able to really do while working 40+ hours per week and training for Marine Corps. And I just enjoyed myself!
I would lie is I said I didn't enjoy being a 26 year old with a life, but I would also be a liar if I said I didn't miss the working out and running. December will be all about finding a balance of getting in my work out sessions. I am super crazy excited to make Blast900 a weekly thing and even more excited to have my good friend and Team in Training love Mitzi doing it with me! I do need to plan my 2011 race calendar... when I was home for Thanksgiving the question I was asked over and over again is "what is next" and as of right now, there is nothing on the books until June!
Hope you all have a rocking weekend and had a great November and have an awesome December!

three things thursday.
when thursday comes around i sometimes wonder where the week has gone. but then i realize that it is thursday and i am ony 1 day from the weekend and i am okay with it being thursday. ....this week has kind of been an obnoxious one and i have been seriously drained... needless to say, i cannot wait for the weekend.
{one} earlier this week (or late last week) i discovered a super cute designer Judith March. she designs the cutest dresses. i am someone who tends to save money rather than spend money. but every now and then i go through this "must buy clothes" phases and right now i am in that phase. i do not discriminate - i stock up on work clothes and every day (but can wear on "jeans friday" day) clothes. Not only am I a big fan of Judith March right now... my obesession with anthropologie is still going strong and i l-o-v-e karlie and free people. honestly, i would love it if i had a personal shopper who created outfits for me and asks "do you like this" and i would tell her yes or no and then i would take the things i love. would make shopping & my life so easy. long story short. thank goodness Christmas is around the corner... barbie needs some clothes.
{two} DID YOU SEE THE AUBURN GEORGIA GAME THIS WEEKEND?! Did you see that the Auburn players forgot they were on the football field and thought they were in a boxing ring?! What was Auburn fighting for? They were winning! So, Georgia you may have not been able to pull out a win but you did manage to royally piss the Auburn players off somehow. You got them so heated that they started throwing punches and now 2 of their playes have to sit out the 1st half of the Iron Bowl. I guess that works too. Well played Georgia well played. And people wonder why I dislike Auburn [some of their fans are just as classy as those boys on the field repping the orange and blue] ... I am pretty sure they moved up in the ranks of most hated SEC school ... move over Florida, Auburn is chasing after that title. ...i can't wait to cheer those Gamecocks on on December 5th. :o)
{three} i am heading back home to DC for thanksgiving on Tuesday. the 9 hour car ride is always eventful with the dog, kyle, and me. kyle likes me to read to him the whole time and it is not as fun as it seems... this go around i am reading "me talk pretty one day" to him. It will be a short trip home with lots of moving around Northern VA to see Kyle's family, get my hair done, watching the iron bowl and hoping that alabama pulls off a big win (!!!!) and I want to get in some runs/work outs since I have been slacking this month. ...3 miles total run so far. I am for sure ready for the vacation from work and life as I live it in Atlanta... but what I really want is a REAL vacation!!
have a great thursday. friday. and weekend.

i ran to the office today.
oh.my.gosh. i put on running shoes and hit the pavement. holy smokes, i remembered how to run. it was not pretty, but it was miles and every one of them counted. no seriously. this Sunday would have marked 3 weeks of no running and that is not okay in my book. but i made the decision a week or so ago that since Fridays are typically slow and uneventful in the morning that I would hit the pavement at 7 am and run to the office. shower there. and then work 8+ hours.
yesterday morning i packed up work clothes and shower stuff & left them at the office (forgetting to pack both shoes and underwear, SO i got to run with underwear in my fanny pack like thing. Hot, I know and well, I have a shoe closet under my desk at work so I had 4 pairs of black heels to chose from so I was covered). Last night I spent close to 1 hr updating my iPod and deleting things off for my 6 new running songs **Christmas list: new iPod with more space!** and drinking water and I crawled into bed early since I wanted to be out the door by 7 and I am normally taking the dog out at 7.
so how was run #1 to the office?! well. it was pretty awful all the way around. I do not even know where to start other than the beginning. It was 79 but felt like 99 with 84% humidity. I could barely make it 1 mile without having to take a breather and walk. Looks like no more 3 week breaks for me. Around mile 2 I am passing Oglethorpe University, look to make sure it's safe to get in the crosswalk, it is so I run into the crosswalk and BAM boy in silver murano texting and driving nearly wipes me out (hey moron: it's illegal to text and drive in GA). My hands are banging on his hood, I am SCREAMING at him and he still isn't stopping. He sees me. Looks terrified. And speeds off. Luckily, I spotted him and was able to stop as my hands hit the side of his car and hood. It could have been worse but I hope he has nightmares...every night for years. Kid didn't even stop to make sure I was okay, I was so pissed and threw my water bottle at him and screamed some choice words. (Can you imagine me being put in an ambulance and them going through my fanny pack and finding underwear, that would be mortifying, they would be like ummm why does this girl carry underwear wit her). I was pretty mad about the whole thing and I could never but could never get my heart rate down & I couldn't calm down so I ended up walking the basically the last 3 miles and all I could think about was thank freaking god for my RoadID. *seriously, if you do not have one it is an amazing investment & it really isn't expensive* I had crazy indigestion (thanks Chick-fil-a spicy chicken sandwich) so I wanted to puke, find a bathroom, & die around like mile 4. The Garmin stopped working around mile 4 too. It just wasn't my day for a run.
up until today I wanted to run to the office everyday and keep track of my time and see if i could do it faster and faster each week. Now I am not too sure, but then again it's like riding a bike, you fall off but have to get back up and keep trying. What the likelihood of me being almost hit EVERY week?! Peachtree Road is such a battlefield.
tomorrow morning i am off to Alabama for my friend son's 1st b.day party but i am hoping to get my swim in afterwards and Sunday I hope to get in a semi long run. i hope you all have a fun weekend planned!! have a great weekend guys!

do i run? doesn't seem like it.
This month thus far has been an epic fail when it comes to my feet hitting the pavement. I have not run since the peachtree which was July the 4th. Yes, I have a half marathon in September and a full in October. This month has been packed full of exciting events and is not yet over. Granted, celebrating an engagement is reason enough to not lace up, but I was also a bridesmaid in a good friend's wedding and coming up my month is full of housewarming parties and a baby's 1st birthday party.
I know, I know. I need to make time for running and tomorrow I will start making time for it... promise. And I will also find myself in spin class. I am thinking about starting to run to the office on Fridays... that's 6 miles right there.... and Friday's are casual days and I can shower in the gym at the office.
oh.oh.oh. i did get dressed to go run today and then noticed it was pouring down rain. booo....

slacker.
With me just signing up for the Marine Corp marathon one would think that I would jump in feet first and hit the road running. Not so much. This past week I ran a measly 3 miles. I even got called out by my Dad and was told that "good marines run 3 miles in their sleep before waking up in the morning". I had great intentions of really running this week but then like always work got in the way (I was working till 11pm one night this week. eek) and I never quite fit it in and I am currently in no shape to run right now. (Tin Lizzy's, friends, and the patio took a toll on me)
I even wanted to start the 200 sit up challenge thing this week and only did 1 day of it. Really, I could have done it while watching TV at night, but the couch and my bed were just so much more comfy.
This week I am really going to try my best kick it into high gear. I am running a 5k on Saturday through my brother's neighborhood and it is hella hilly plus, I have a printed out training schedule for Marine Corp that I need to follow. Didn't I want to have another 50+ miles month?! I have a goal of running Marine Corp in 5 hours (give to take a few minutes). So last week I brought my running clothes to work everyday but never used them - it will be different this week - I will try my best to pull myself away from the computer at work for just a hour and run. wish me luck.

This Month.
This month has started off on a bad work out and running foot. Somehow work has once again overtaken my life. Maybe it is because I realized how much (...err how little I billed) last year (...staffing sure was a hard industry to sell in last year) and want to do so so so much better or maybe it is because we were still getting situated in our new office space maybe it is because it has been cold and rainy. Excuses aside, I slacked. I didn't make running and working out in my top 5 priorities and I was content sitting at home watching Season 1 of Dexter with my friend who is a boy. So I want to do better. 2010 is the year of getting serious about this running thing and putting in the time and effort that training for a race deserves. So I will do better.
This month I have set myself some goals. And they are:
1. I want to run 48.94 miles total this month. That will make it my highest miles month in the history of Barbie running. Wahoo. How did I get such a random number you ask? Well, last month I ran 44.49 miles and if I follow the 10% rule that means I have to do 48.94. It makes sense in my mind.
2. I want to PR at the Charles Harris 10k in a few weeks. My last 10k time was 1:21:21 - I want to run this one in 1:10 or less. If you're in Atlanta and available on 2.27.10 - run it. *I just realized that is my 3 year anniversary - what a way to start the morning* ... this run benefits the Leukemia & Lymphoma society - a cause that is so close to my heart. So if you're in town I invite you to run with me!!
3. Spin class once per week and swimming once per week. Pilates on Sunday no matter how tired I am. Still working on incorporating cross training into my weekly routine.
Honestly, I think people that get out there everyday and just run no matter what is going on in their life have total dedication and are amazing. People who find that hour plus per day to make it happen are an inspiration to people like me. ...If only one day I am one of those people. Patience young grasshopper. That is all. And I have to start making dinner. I hope everyone has an awesome February of logging the miles and having fun!
